Climbing in Sicily: a paradise between sea and rock!
Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean, offers climbing enthusiasts a unique natural experience. The climbing spot of San Vito lo Capo presents itself as a true Eldorado for sport climbers and adventure seekers. Along the Scogliera Salinella, an approximately 3-kilometre-long rocky ledge directly by the sea, there is a climbing world that challenges both heart and muscles. Join us for a week of sport climbing on the sun-warmed rock of Sicily!

Climbing in Sicily, between San Vito Lo Capo and Palermo. A climbing trip by the sea, along the sharpest limestone cliffs of the island!
The variety of climbing routes between San Vito Lo Capo and Palermo is breathtaking: from rough limestone with razor-sharp edges to reddish coral walls that appear smooth at first but hide surprisingly good holds. Whether vertical walls, overhangs or small roofs – every climber will find a challenge here. Even piaz passages and cracks can be found on this remarkable rock cliff!
Another highlight is the ideal access conditions. We can reach our routes in just a few minutes, which means more time for the actual climbing ;). Even world-class routes such as Adam Ondra’s ‘Climb vor life’ (9a) are quickly accessible. The slightly winding rock bar also offers numerous wind-protected areas so that we can always find a sheltered climbing point in unsettled weather.
In addition to the main walls, there are caves with unique sinter formations, with the ‘Never Sleeping Wall’ standing out in particular. For bouldering fans, the boulders in the region offer additional challenges. The proximity to the beach, short distances and the friendly local climbing scene transform San Vito lo Capo into a true climbing village. Although there are numerous difficult routes, climbers from the 5th French grade upwards will also find varied and exciting tours in a small area. Thanks to our mountain guide, you can combine an exciting climbing week in a small group with climbing coaching tailored to the level of the participants!
The catering during the trip is another highlight: fresh Mediterranean cuisine, local specialities such as “busiate pasta” and “arancini” provide culinary delights after our strenuous climbing days. The relaxed atmosphere of the Sicilians and the breathtaking landscape make this climbing holiday an incomparable experience!
If we are looking for another adventure after climbing, we can visit the Riserva dello Zingaro or Riserva del Monte Cofano nature parks, hike through the historic town of Erice or go swimming. If the sea is calm enough, we can also go on an exciting DWS (Deep Water Solo) adventure!
