Ice climbing and drytooling courses with a mountain guide

Ice climbing requires strength, finesse and coordination: precise footwork on the front points of your crampons and energy-saving swings of your ice tools. In our courses you learn this technique step by step, on ice and on rock. The ice climbing courses run from December to March, and drytooling is possible outside the ice season too.

Learn to ice climb in Avers

Avers is one of the most reliable ice areas in Switzerland. The compact ice climbing course is the quickest way in. In the beginner ice climbing course you learn the basics of technique and belaying in two days. In the advanced course you tackle steeper lines and refine your technique.

Drytooling in Erstfeld

In drytooling you climb rock with ice tools and crampons. It’s ideal training for ice climbing and alpine routes. In the beginner drytooling course you learn the basic technique. In the advanced course and coaching you work on your efficiency on steep, overhanging walls.

Mixed climbing and north faces

On the ice and mixed climbing course at Urnerboden you combine ice and rock: where the icefall ends, you continue on rock with hooks and torques. The north face basic course at the Cabane du Trient prepares you for steep, mixed faces in the high mountains.

Which course is right for you?

Without prior knowledge, start with the compact course, the beginner course in Avers or the beginner drytooling course. If you’re already confident on ice, mixed climbing and the north face basic course are the next steps. Afterwards you can apply your skills on a guided ice climbing day in Kandersteg, Sertig or the Brunnital.
