A local guide knows the slopes where the powder stays good for days after the last snowfall, and assesses the avalanche danger for you. That way you get the most out of a freeride day without taking unnecessary risks. We use the lifts for most of the ascent, so there’s plenty of time for the descents. Depending on the area, the season runs from December to April.
Andermatt is one of the great freeride destinations in Switzerland. On our Andermatt freeride day we ride the Gemsstock, for example the famous «Giraffe» descent. In Engelberg, northerly weather often brings deep snow to the slopes around the Titlis. The glacier area of Flims Laax Falera is one of the largest freeride areas in eastern Switzerland. In Airolo in Ticino you’ll find big-mountain lines and tree skiing.
In Chamonix we take the cable car up the Aiguille du Midi to 3,842 m and ski the legendary Vallée Blanche from there. From Courmayeur the Skyway takes us up to Punta Helbronner. La Grave is a high-mountain playground with no groomed runs and up to 2,150 vertical metres of powder.
You should ski confidently on any piste and have some experience in powder. In Andermatt, Engelberg, Laax and Airolo, less experienced freeriders are in good hands too. Chamonix, Courmayeur and La Grave are meant for advanced and expert skiers. If you want to work on your technique first, a ski technique and powder course is the right start.
