Finale Ligure Climbing – Climbing Holiday with a Mountain Guide

Kletterer an einem Felsblock direkt über dem Meer bei Finale Ligure

The coast of Liguria, a treat for climbing enthusiasts and lovers of Italian flair, just a stone’s throw from Switzerland. Thanks to first-class rock quality, the countless number of crags and the wonderful weather, Finale Ligure has established itself in recent years as an Italian climbing hotspot. The distinctly delicious Mediterranean cuisine, the relaxed way of letting the climbing days fade out in the «Piazza» (the meeting point in the middle of the centre) with a view of the sea, and the generally relaxed atmosphere round off this very special climbing holiday.

Programme

Travel from Switzerland by public transport or carpooling. Arrival and check-in at our accommodation. A relaxed tour through the old town and, if the temperatures allow it, a refreshing jump into the sea. Discussing wishes, goals and the climbing content of the week with the mountain guide.

A full programme awaits us! Long climbing days, fine local food and technique coaching are on the agenda. Of course there will be no shortage of moments to relax, fine gelato on the beach included 😉

The morning is still at our disposal to pick up the last souvenirs, climb the last route or dare one final jump into the cool water. In the afternoon we head back towards Switzerland. It was great to have you with us!

FAQ

Finale Ligure on the Ligurian coast is quite simply one of the densest climbing areas in northern Italy – with around 4,000 routes in hundreds of crags, in a very small area and with a direct sea view. The limestone is compact, rough and richly structured: pockets, edges, overhangs, slabs. All aspects are represented, which means that in almost any weather you find a dry, sunny or shady sector. On top of that comes the proximity to Switzerland – around 5 hours’ drive, and you are standing at the foot of the wall.

The climbing week is aimed at everyone who wants to climb outdoors and improve their style. The minimum level is 5c leading – anyone who belays safely and confidently at this level is in the right place. The group is deliberately kept small (max. 8 participants), and before the trip we hold expectation talks so that all participants come together with similar goals and abilities.

Yes – besides the numerous sport climbing routes, Finale Ligure also offers beautiful multi-pitch routes in the immediate surroundings. Initial multi-pitch experience is an advantage, but not essential. Our mountain guide decides together with the group on which days multi-pitch routes make sense and are possible.

Yes. Finale Ligure is not only known for climbing. On request the week can be complemented with a surfing or paragliding morning – both are well established and bookable in the region. The last morning before the journey home is deliberately kept free: last route, last gelato, last jump into the sea.
