FAQ

Svaneti combines adventure, authentic Georgian culture and breathtaking scenery. What you no longer find in Zermatt, Andermatt and Davos still exists here: untracked powder on wide slopes, no queues, hardly any other groups out in the terrain – and five-thousanders as a backdrop around the village of Mestia. The village of 2,000 inhabitants has good infrastructure with supermarkets, sports shops, restaurants, cafés and hotels. From Mestia it takes 45 minutes to the Tetnuldi ski area, and the Hatsvali resort has been connected directly to the village by a chairlift since 2020. After the skiing, life begins: in the evening you can drink Georgian wine and chacha – and before that enjoy a Georgian feast with khachapuri and khinkali.

Ushguli, a community of four villages with a total population of only around 190 people, lies at the upper end of the Enguri gorge and lets us step almost into the Middle Ages. Ushguli has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. The drive from Mestia is barely 50 km long, but extremely adventurous. We spend two to three days there: one of the finest tours is the Gavibari – we put on our skis right outside the door of the accommodation, walk through the medieval village and head into the big Gavibari bowl. In the evening the „mama“ of the house cooks in the dining room.

A flight to Kutaisi – Georgia’s third-largest city. After arriving in the evening we spend one night in Kutaisi, then about 5 hours’ drive through the Greater Caucasus to Mestia. Alternatively: a flight to Tbilisi and a transfer. We organise all transfers from Kutaisi in a private hire car or bus.
