The multi-day high-altitude tour in the Monte Rosa massif par excellence: the Spaghetti Tour. Climb 10x4000ers with a mountain guide
The Valais Alps, a majestic mountain range that is immortalized on the 20 Swiss franc bill, among other things. There are plenty of peaks in the Valais that exceed the 4000 m mark, a real gem for ambitious mountaineers.
About the Spaghetti Tour: The panorama that you will experience on the Spaghetti Tour is fascinating and extends over the Swiss canton of Valais and the picturesque Italian regions of Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta.
In the middle of this imposing Alpine landscape is one of the most outstanding high-altitude tour crossings of the Alps: the famous Spaghetti Round. This route takes you to ten imposing 4000-metre peaks in the impressive Monte Rosa massif. But the Spaghetti tour is more than just an alpine challenge; it is also a culinary experience. During the tour, we not only stop at high alpine huts located on Italian soil, but also immerse ourselves in the country’s gastronomic world. This is precisely why the Spaghetti Round is called the Spaghetti Round, because on this five-day high-altitude tour, we not only enjoy the fascinating Alpine landscape, but also the culinary variety, as pasta specialties are of course on the menu. This combination of breathtaking peaks and gastronomic delights gives the high-altitude tour its unique name – the Spaghetti Round. Planned schedule of the guided Spaghetti Tour
Day 1
From Zermatt we hike to the Klein Matterhorn cable car (3817 m). This is where our adventure begins: first we gently ascend the Breithorn (4164 m). The view rewards our efforts, while a whole series of four-thousand-metre peaks present themselves in front of us. We continue our journey along the sunny southern flank in the direction of Schwarztor. Now we descend to the Rifugio Guida d’Ayas (3394 m), a charming mountain refuge.
Day 2
Our tour begins today in the direction of Zwillingsjoch. Our goal is the summit of the Castor (4223 m), which we climb via the steep western flank. The views of Lyskamm and the twn glaciers are particularly impressive.
After the ascent, we make our way to the Rifugio Sella (3585 m).
Day 3
The trail leads us over the sunny south side of the imposing Lyskamm towards Naso (4272 m). Here we have to belay according to conditions. We then descend carefully in the rock and pass the Balmenhorn (4167 m) and the Vincent Pyramid (4215 m). The descent finally leads us to the picturesque Rifugio Mantova (3400 m).
Day 4
Today we make our way to the Lysjoch. Passing the picturesque Rifugio Gnifetti, we gain altitude over beautifully stepped slopes and approach the peaks of Corno Nero (4321 m), Ludwigshöhe (4341 m) and the imposing Parrotspitze (4432 m). The crowning ascent of our trip is the Signalkuppe (4554 m). Our accommodation today is the Margherita Hut, the highest hut in Europe. The views in the evening from this point are simply gigantic. We can admire the lights of Varese and Milan from an altitude of 4000 m!
