Here you can reach your climbing goals in the compact limestone of Arco, whether it’s increasing your onsight level, climbing cleanly on lead, or fun multi-pitch routes with gorgeous views of the Valle Del Sarca.

About the history of Arco: The beginnings of sport climbing in Arco date back to the 1970s, when the route “Umberta Bertamini” was climbed on the local mountain Monte Colodri. This paved the way for the opening of the first route with a single bolt called “Specchio delle mie Brame” in 1982, which was developed by Roberto Bassi and Heinz Mariacher. It was only in the 1980s that the first short climbing routes oriented to sport climbing were created, such as “Honky Tonky”, which was the first of its kind to be completely equipped with bolts. From then on, the development wave in the entire Sarca Valley became explosive, including Monte Casale, Cima Delle Coste and Colodri.

The international climbing scene subsequently became aware of the region around Arco, which led to further developments, also by well-known climbers from the German and Swiss scene such as the Remy brothers and Wolfgang Güllich. Arco is therefore not only an Italian climbing mecca, but also a place that has actively contributed to the history of the development of sport climbing.
