Ski touring course – your insight into the world of hairpin bends and powder snow

Stotzigen Firsten, Winterhorn, Schafberg or a ski tour on the Pazolastock? Andermatt and the Hospental valley offer many opportunities for first-class ski tours and courses. We offer our beginner ski tours according to the five “Golden Rules” for a successful day on the mountain: sunny location, fantastic views, snow-sure, protected from avalanches, awesome descent!

What can you expect from one of our ski touring taster courses? First of all, a basic introduction to the material and the ascent technique, because first you have to reach the summit. Then an application tour with an exciting ascent that will reward you with wonderful views. Finally, a deep-snow descent with addictive potential, because there’s nothing better than making your own tracks in deep snow!

Splitboarder are very welcome, as the tour does not include any steep crossings.

Skitourer bei der Abfahrt

Planned schedule for your ski touring introductory course in Andermatt Hospental

Skitourer beim Aufstieg

Day 1

Meet & greet at the meeting point. Check in at the accommodation, Hotel Sust Lodge or Hotel Tiefenbach, depending on the best conditions. Equipment check and short introduction to tour planning and ascent techniques. Start of the first application tour by climbing the selected summit at a pace adapted to all participants. When we arrive, we hold a short feedback session on the ascent: How did we do? How could we have chosen a safer route? What could have been improved in terms of skin technique? Descent into the valley and back to the hotel, where we enjoy a delicious dinner and present the course plan for day 2.

Eisklettern Grundkurs Nachmittags

Day 2

After a warming breakfast, it’s time to get skins on: Skins on, ski boots on, avalanche beacon on “send” and off we go! We carry out a second practice tour and learn more techniques for the ascent, line selection and a little input on avalanche awareness. When we reach the top, we enjoy the view for the first time. Now it’s time for a breathtaking descent down slopes covered in deep snow. The view over the mountains of Uri is absolutely brilliant: this is what a ski tour should look like! The adventure ends at around 16:00.
